Biography
William was born in 1726. He is the son of Nathaniel Aspden and Mary Hindle. [1]
He was 11 years old when his father passed away in 1737.
In 1757 William married by banns Elizabeth Clayton (of the parish of Blackburn). They both signed their names on the marriage entry, indicating they were educated. William Hindle (probably William's uncle) was one of the witnesses. [2]

In 1762 his given occupation was plodweaver, a person who wove plaid material. Also known as plaid weaver - plod was a C16-17th variant of plaid.
In 1772 together with Richard Cottam he made a a gift ('benefaction') of £100 to the parochial chapel of St. Lawrence, which had been mentioned as early as 1390. [3]
'William Aspden of Blackburn' was buried at Great Harwood in Nov 1788.[4]
