Catherine Aspden was born in 1831 in Ireland; most likely this was when the family was enroute to America. It was not uncommon for emigrees from Scotland and England to start the process in Northern Ireland. She was a daughter of Henry Aspden and Ann Whitaker who were from Blackburn, Lancashire, England. Catherine married Thomas Hamilton a wire cutter who was born in Ireland. They had five children and resided in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She passed away February 2,1883 and was buried at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Philadelphia. Thomas died October 10, 1888 and was interred beside her.
