Donna was born in 1932. She was the daughter of Arthur Aspevig and Henrietta Johnson.
She moved with her family to Flin Flon, Manitoba in 1942 and later moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1956.
On December 5, 1959, she married John Otte. Together they raised a family of three children.
In 1962, while the superintendent of the Bowness United Church Sunday School, she founded the “Cat in the Hat” play School. This became an incredibly popular program. Donna would take her classes to entertain at local nursing homes and the Foothills Medical Centre; and put on a Christmas concert each year for the families and seniors.
Donna was also very involved in musical pursuits. She was a member of the Foothills Stompers since 1976; sang with the Sweet Adelines in two quartets, eight member Gospel group, as well as the Gold Diggers.
She had seasonal interests as well. In the winter she was an avid curler. Donna and John were members of both the Calgary Curling Club and The Winter Club. In the summer, she was in the garden. She especially loved growing geraniums, begonias, and double petunias.
She passed away in 2015.
