Elizabeth was born in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, in 1854. Her birth was registered in the second quarter of the year. Her parents were Daniel Aspinall, a "Gardener", and Eliza Davison. Elizabeth was baptized, in Liverpool, on July 31, 1855, at Saint Peter Church. It appears Elizabeth continued living with her family in the Liverpool, West Derby area until her marriage in 1877. Her father, Daniel, passed away in 1861. Her mother remarried, and Elizabeth is enumerated in the 1871 census residing with her mother, two younger sisters, and her step father, Austin Gibbs.
Elizabeth married Robert Sumner on May 27, 1877, in Liverpool, at All Saints Church. The couple would have seven children between 1879, and 1899, all born in Liverpool. Two of Elizabeth's sons would be killed in action during World War I.
Elizabeth passed away in Liverpool, in November, 1915. Her death was registered in West Derby. She was buried at Kirkdale Cemetery, Liverpool, on November 14th. She was fifty six.
