Biography

Nicholas was born about 1843 in South Carolina. He was the child of Mary and Albert Aspinall, and the brother-in-law of Civil War veteran Stephen Swails of the famous 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry who would go on to be a politician during the Reconstruction Era in the United States.
