Hatty was born about 1840 in the Channel Island of Jersey. Her father Abraham Asplet was a mariner and her mother Esther's maiden name was Balleine.
When she was 21, Hatty married Phillipe Vibert, and they had six children together.
Hatty's sons Philip and Edmund went to Australia first and then Hatty and her husband and the other children followed them, aboard the cuzco in 1881.
The men in the family were carpenters, joiners, tradesmen in the wood trade, builders and settled in Shepparton.
Hatty passed away in 1912 and the family placed this notice in the Argus newspaper: "VIBERT.—On the 1st November, at her residence, Mason-street, Shepparton, Hatty, widow of the late Philip Vibert, and beloved mother of E. J., S. J., and Florence Vibert, of Shepparton; Philip and Walter Vibert of Perth, W.A.; and Mrs. Carthew Wright, of Sydney, aged 73 years. A colonist of 23 years. The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
