The 1881 England and Wales Census shows William living with his mother and stepsister Florence in Tunbridge Villas, Lewisham, Kent, England.[5] He was 20 years old and was working as a Banker's Clerk.
In about 1887 William married Rosetta Woodward, known as Rose. She was about 22 years old. The couple had two children together, William Phillip (1887-1963) and Kathleen Margaret (1889-1964).
The 1891 Canada Census shows William living in Medicine Hat, North West Territories, Canada.[6] He was 30 years old.
William passed away on 1 May 1891 in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada.[7][8]
Probate was completed on 27 May 1909 in London, England.[7] The beneficiaries were Daniel Kenneth Capper Birt and his wife Rosetta Graydon (Rosetta remarried in 1892 and passed away in 1945).
