Biography

John was born in 1845^[1] He was the son of Edward Astill and Mary Collyer. He was living with his father and brother in 1851^[2] He was living with his father, step-mother and siblings in 1861^[3] He married in 1864^[4] He was living with his wife and children in 1871^[5] He was still living with his wife and children in 1881 by which time he had gone from constable to sergeant^[6] He was still living with them in 1891^[7] He passed away in 1898^[8]
