Biography

Norman Albert Astill was born 1886 at Cumnock, New South Wales, the son of George Astill and Sarah Townsend. His birth was registered in the Molong district. [1]

Marriage. On 25th April 1911, Norman married Florence Barter, their marriage registered Molong, New South Wales. [2] [3]

WEDDING
A wedding which attracted much attention was celebrated in the Anglican Church on Wednesday last, the contracting parties being Miss F. Barter, daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph Barter, of Cumnock, and Mr N. Astill, second son of Mr George Astill, late of Yullundry. ... Miss M. Barter (sister of the bride) acted as bridesmaid. ... Mr E. Grimson acted as best man. At the conclusion of the ceremony the wedding party and invited guests adjourned to the residence of the bride's parents ... The happy couple subsequently departed for their future home at Coonamble... [4]

On 2nd November 1928, three of their children died in a house fire at Orange, while their parents shopped in town: Lurline Astill, aged 12, Dulcie Astill, aged 8, and Florence Astilll, aged 3. The children were buried 5th November in the one grave, Lurline and Dulcie lying clasped in each others arms, as they were found. [6]

Death. Norman died 1959, his death registered Orange, New South Wales. [7]
