Biography

Mary Agnes Astles was born November 20, 1874 in New Carlisle, Quebec, Canada and baptized May 27,1875 in Saint Andrew's Church of England in New Carlisle. She was the daughter of John Campbell Astles and Margaret (Gillis) Astles.^[1] This is consistent with an unsourced family tree.^[2]

In the 1881 census Mary Astles (age 7) was living in Nelson, Northumberland, New Brunswick, Canada. The birthplace for all the children except Robert was actually Quebec, specifically New Carlisle.^{[3] [4]}

Mary was married October 26, 1892 in Newcastle, New Brunswick to Archibald Campbell.^[5]

In the 1901 census Mary (age 26) was living in Newcastle, Northumberland, New Brunswick, Canada. Marital Status: Married. Relation to Head of House: Wife.^[6]

In the 1911 census Mary (age 36) was living in Northumberland, New Brunswick, Canada. Marital Status: Married. Relation to Head of House: Wife.^[7]

In the 1921 census Mary (age 46) was living in Newcastle Parish, Northumberland, New Brunswick, Canada. Marital Status: Married. Relation to Head of House: Wife.^[8]

Mary died at the age of 62 on 26 August 1937 in Ferry Road, NB. There is a memorial on Find a Grave for Mary Assells Campbell (1874-1937) buried in Moorefield Cemetery, Moorefield, Northumberland, New Brunswick.^[9]
