William and Emma had seven children: Ethel Amelia (1885); Ernest Edward (1886); Leslie Baynham (1888); Arthur John (1891); Ruby Olive (1896); Doris Edith (1899); and Elsie Maud (1905). Ethel died in infancy and Arthur was killed in action in Messines in 1917.
William passed away at his home in Elsternwick on 8 June 1923, aged 63.
