Mr. Atchison was born Oct. 22, 1929, in Hastings, the son of William and Velma Atchison.
He grew up in Hastings and was a 1948 graduate of Hastings High School.
On June 23, 1951, he married Marjorie Linn in St. Paul.
He was a 1954 graduate of Macalester College and a 1957 graduate of the Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, N.J.
He was ordained in the Presbyterian Church that year. He served for many years in the Presbyterian Church until affiliating himself with the Untied Church of Christ.
At the time of his death he was serving the UCC in Humbird, WI.
He enjoyed writing, having written two books and working on a third. He also enjoyed woodworking and model boat building.
He served as chemical dependency counselor for many years and served on the Prescott City Council for two terms.
