Biography

Gordon Brown Atchison, son of James and Hannah Atchison, was born 28 Feb 1884. He was baptized 14 June 1887 (along with his siblings Fannie Bennet (11) and Stenhouse(9)) at the Scott Methodist Episcopal Church, Philadephia, Pennsylvania. ^[1]

Marriage

Gordon Married Eva Golle on 25 FEB 1904 in Delaware, Pennsylvania, United States. Record incorrectly lists wife's name as 'Edith'. Evidence record is for correct couple:

The 1910 Census list Gordon and Eva as married for 6 years; which would be 1904. The 1930 Census list Gordon as married at age 19 and Eva at age 17. In Feb 1904, Eva would have been 17 and Gordon would have been 19 and turning 20 three days later (based on birthdate of 28 Feb 1884) Husband listed correctly as Gordon B Atchison. Marriage lists birth as 20 Feb 1883 in Philadelphia.This is different then the dates listed on his SS death index (28 Feb 1884) and 1900 Census (Feb 1884). Possible the marriage certificate has Gordon's birth year incorrect. Despite the wife's name listed as Edith Golle, instead of Eva Golle, the birthdate (27 Nov 1887) is the same date listed on both the marriage and Eva's death certificate. Therefore, Edith is likely also Eva.^[2]

Survived by daughters, Anna, Jean, Ruth, Dorothy, and Eva and son Gordon Jr. ^[8] Per family knowledge Gordon required the use of a colostomy bag in his later years due to illness. Death by suicide-gun shot to head.

Burial

Funeral held, Monday after death at McCausland Funeral Home, 202 S. Chester Pike, Glenolden. Interred at Northwood Cemetery, Philadelphia. ^[8]
