The ship sailed from Gravesend, England on 6 September 1876 and arrived Lyttelton 11 December 1876.[12] George (aged 36) traveled with his wife Annetta (aged 37), daughters Frances (aged 14), Evelyna (aged 7) and son Johnson (aged 1). At some point Frances was transferred to "S.W." (another ship?) Origin: Yorkshire. Occupation: Boot maker. The entire family was assisted for full cost of voyage 55 pounds 18 shillings and 9 pence by the New Zealand government. [13][14] There is a note on the passenger list that indicates the family disembarked and stayed at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Christchurch, New Zealand.
19 September 1907 Johnson was living at his home Clyde Villa, Taitville, Melrose, Wellington.
Died on 5 April 1926 suddenly at the residence of his brother-in-law (W.J. Humphrey, Konini) Johnson (Jack), beloved husband of Louie Athea aged 51 years. Interred at Mangatainoka, Wairarapa, New Zealand. [15]
