Georgina Atherley was born c1852 in Corfu, Greece, according to the information recorded in the 1871 Census. She was the daughter of Mark Kerr Atherley and Martha (nee Bowen) Atherley.
In the 1871 England Census, she is living with her family at Teignmouth, Devonshire, England (age 18y).[1] Note: The spelling of Atherley in this record is Atherly.
She married James William Mellis in 1884 at St. George's Cathedral, Madras, India.[2][3][4]
James died and she remarried to Alexander Lawrie, of Nutley Cottage, Hampstead in 1899,[5] at Holy Trinity Church, Bedford.[6][7][8]
