The Birth Date is a rough estimate. See the text for details.
This profile is part of the St Helens, Lancashire One Place Study.

Ann Atherton was born around 1805, probably in Sutton, Lancashire. She was the daughter of Samuel Atherton.

Ann married Enock Bromilow on 11 Dec 1825 at Farnworth Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of the local parish; Enoch was an agent, Ann was a spinster. The witnesses were S. Johnson and J. Johnson.

Their daughter Mary was born on 26 Jun 1826, and christened on 3 Oct 1826 at New Chapel in Baldwin Street, St Helens, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as coal agent, and the family's address as Sutton.

Their son Samuel John was born on 20 Oct 1827, and christened on 17 Dec 1827 at New Chapel in Baldwin Street, St Helens, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as coal agent, and the family's address as Eccleston.

Their son Enoch was born on 8 Sep 1829, and christened on 22 Nov 1829 at New Chapel in Baldwin Street, St Helens, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as coal agent, and the family's address as St Helens.

Their daughter Ann was born on 31 May 1831, and christened on 4 Aug 1831 at New Chapel in Baldwin Street, St Helens, Lancashire. Her father's occupation was recorded as coal agent, and the family's address as St Helens.

Their son William James was born on 22 Mar 1833, and christened on 31 Dec 1833 at New Chapel in Baldwin Street, St Helens, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as coal agent, and the family's address as Windle.

Enock died in 1835, aged 29; he was buried on 11 Mar 1835 at New Chapel. His address was recorded as Thatto Heath.

It's unclear what became of Ann, but when the 1841 census was taken, her three children Mary, Samuel John and Enoch were with Ann's brother William Atherton, so she may have died as well.

Research Notes

Not this Ann in 1841, living with James Bromilow, Ellen Bromilow, a number of Bromilow children and two Atherton children - she was married to James (see [https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGBK-2VD 1851 census)

Possible death in Wigan district in 1841 (after the census), but I couldn't see her in the 1841 census in Wigan, unless enumerated as Bromiley, in which case she was definitely not this Ann (she's with presumed husband Dan).
