Biography
Robert was the son of Clyde Raymond Athey and Georgia Orene Smith.[1]
He registered for the World War II draft on 14 Feb 1942, and was reported as 5'10", 160 lbs., brown hair, brown eyes, ruddy complexion. He was working for Cousins Tractor Company at the time of registration.[2]
He enlisted in the military on 18 Jan 1946 and was living in Deschutes, Oregon at the time. Rank: Technician 5th Grade Equivalent to Grade 6: Corporal. Education: Grammar school. Component: Regular Army.[3] In Jan 1952, he was a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Station: Unit Enlisted Volunteer Reserve 12th Marine Corps Reserve District Mri El Toro.[4]
He married Nadine L Todd on 17 Apr 1952 in Kings, California.[5]
