(From Find A Grave: Sources - source citation at bottom of section)
Birth: 1861, Grey County, Ontario, Canada
Death : July 26, 1934, Red Deer, Red Deer Census Division; Alberta, Canada.
Mrs. MATILDA SARAH PATTON passed away quietly on Thursday in her 73rd year. She had been troubled with her heart for some time, but she had been up and about until about a week before her death, when she had a slight stroke which was followed by a more severe stroke from which she did not rally.
Mrs. Patton was born in Grey County, Ontario, and after her marriage moved to Sault Ste. Marie.
Mr. Patton died about 1903, and in February 1906, Mrs. Patton and her three young children came out to Red Deer, where Mrs. Patton expected to take care of her sister, Mrs. Louis Morton, who was seriously ill. Mrs. Morton died before Mrs. Patton reached Red Deer, so when she arrived she took charge of Mrs. Morton's family as well as her own, and has remained with them ever since. She was an active, kindly woman, and Mr. Morton and the family will have sympathy in their loss.
She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Pres Combes, in Oklahoma; and two sons, William, in the Peace River, and Nathaniel.
Of the Morton family there were two daughters, Mrs. Alex Greenway of Calgary, and Mrs. Lloyd McNally of Calgary, and Tom, at home. There is one sister in Ontario and one in Montana, and two brothers, John Atkins and Thomas Atkins in Peace River.

(PLEASE NOTE: The above obituary does incorrectly cite the death of William Patton to 1903. The William Patton that Matilda married died December 31, 1948, at Vancouver, British Columbia. If read carefully, the publication undoubtedly meant to identify Matilda's first husband, or, William Henry Babcock. However, even here, the date is still incorrect, as Babcock's death occurred in 1943, not 1903)
