Otis O Atkins was born in 1866[1] in Illinois.[2] He was the son of Owen Frederick Atkins and wife Margaret P (Harrison) Atkins. At age 14 he was in his parent's home in Galena, Jasper Co, Missouri.[2]
He married Mary Saphronia (Miser) Atkins on October 2, 1892, in Seneca, Missouri.[3] They had two children during their marriage.
He died as a young father on February 10, 1900,[4] in Jasper, Missouri, at the age of 34, and was buried in Newton, Missouri In the Hornet Cemetery.[1]Delilah (Williams) Atkins, wife of his son Charles Owen Atkins, relates that Otis died Feb. 9, 1900 from blood poising in a cut on his leg. The two sons, John and Charlie, who were only about 5 and 2 year old.[5]
