Biography

Margaret was born 27 January 1927[1] in Maybeury, McDowell, West Virginia[2] to Jesse Hampton Atkins and Pearl John Wolfe[3]. Sadly, Margaret's father had passed away by the time Margaret was three years old in 1930, when her widowed mother was married to Norval Perdue[4].

In the 1940 Federal Census, Margaret lived with her mother, sister, and step-father in a rented home in Coopers, Mercer, West Virginia[5]. Her step-father worked as a coal miner and her mother worked at home as a seamstress[5].

On 11 May 1946 Margaret married Marshall Armstrong in Bluefield, Mercer, West Virginia[2]. Marshall was born 28 July 1923 in Norton, Virginia to Marshall Armstrong and his wife, Florence[6].

Margaret and Marshall had at least two children together:

  1. Barry Dixon Armstrong Sr. (living)[6]
  2. Charles Roger Armstrong b. 1953 d. 1953[7]

Margaret was 71 years old when she passed away. She died on 31 October 1998[1] in Bluefield, Mercer, West Virginia[3].
