Kezia Atkinson was born in 1855 in Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom. She was the daughter of John Atkinson and Elizabeth Broome.
The family migrated to Tasmania (Australia) before 1872.
Aged sixteen years (not unusual for the era), Kezia married twenty-seven year-old John Mitchell on 18th May 1872 in Port Sorell, Tasmania. [1] They initially made their home in Port Sorrell before purchasing fifteen acres of land and establishing Hazeldene in Sheffield, Tasmania.
She passed away, aged 93 years, in 1948 in Caulfield, Victoria.
