Charles was born about 1871 to Burkett Atkinson and Betsy Willet. His mother's name may have been Ruth Willougby, not Betsy Willet, as mentioned in his grandfather's Atkinson Family History written in 1879. [1]
In 1880, the family was living in Coweta County, Georgia.[2]
In 1910, Charles was living in Louisiana with his sister, Dora.[3]
