Biography

John was born in 1867 in Ontario, Canada to William Atkinson and Anne Bates.

In 1871, his mother and sisters were listed in the Canada census, but he and his father were not. He and his father were possibly living elsewhere, or it may have been a transcription error. Perhaps they were listed on the bottom of a page and the others on the next page.

In 1881, he was living with his parents and siblings in Streetsville, Peel, Ontario, Canada. He was working as a factory hand.^[1]

He married Bell Clara Goddard on 08 Jul 1903 in Listowel, , Ontario, Canada.^[2]
