William Atkinson was born 15 April 1798 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, to George Atkinson and Sarah McCalpin.[1] He married first to Frances “Fanny” Hendrick about 1821 in Kanawha County, Virginia (now West Virginia). He married secondly to the widowed Nancy Hill Harrison 7 March 1839 in Mason County, Virginia (now West Virginia).[2]
He died 12 July 1874 in Mason County, West Virginia.[3] He is buried in Warner Chapel Cemetery.[4]
