Biography

Ivy was born on 9th Jan 1913 in Branxholme, Victoria - Reg. No 967/1913. She was the daughter of Matthew Atkinson and Lavinia Smith. She passed away about 1989. Ivy is reputed to have moved to Geelong in or before 1933?, and then to Melbourne, and then to New South Wales (mainly around Sydney). Ivy lived in St Mary's NSW for 30 years. Ivy had very limited contact with her family and little is known. . Ivy married Roy Clarke in 1937. Cert. No. 15020/1937

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION HAS BEEN SUPPLIED BY MARCIA KOCH

Ivy never spoke to Marcia about her family or past. Ivy married Roy Clarke (approx. 1936 or later). Ivy had 3 children:

. Maureen (was born about 1933), was adopted out at eight month old. Maureen had a daughter - Julie Walker (Lived in Benalla ?)

. John Atkinson (kept the surname of Atkinson and was born about 1936), married an Aileen ? and had four children, who have all moved, Marcia - Merbein, Sandra - Mandurah WA, Allan - Broken Hill, and Paul - Adelaide.

. Marcia McCormack - was born about 1939. Marcia's father was William Albert McCormack, she remembers him as being a gambler who was a heavy drinker and sometimes abusive. Marcia married Albert Koch and they had 3 children (all raised in Cootamundra). Anthony (Tony) John Koch, who married Regina Cramer in (or settled in) Melbourne. Wendy, who married Bruce Patton in (or settled in) Condobolin. And Anna, who married Jason Wright in (or settled in) Melbourne.

When they were young, Marcia and John (Atkinson) stayed with their mother, Ivy, at St. Mary's NSW. Ivy lived in a caravan and Marcia and John in a tent. Marcia only ever knew her mother as Ivy Clarke. Marcia moved to Merimbula prior to 2010, Her husband, Albert Koch stayed in Cootamundra. Ivy was buried in Queensland.
