Biography

Maria Paola [Giuseppa] Attardo was born at born at Sciacca, Provincia di Girgenti, Kingdom of Sicily, 26 January 1773, daughter of Vito Attardo and Margarita Tavormina, and was baptized at San Michele parish, Sciacca, 26 January 1773; her sponsors were Giuseppe and Maria Benfari.^[1] Giuseppa Attardo died in her home at Quartiere Oreto, Olivella, Sciacca, at 3:00 a.m., 28 January 1824, aged 50, born at and resided at Sciacca, moglie di Paolo Marchese, daughter of fu Vito Attardo, a contadino; and fu Margarita Napoli [sic]. Antonino Riggio, aged 22, a serviente; and Maestro Saverio Graffeo, aged 40, a calzolaio, reported her death.^[2] Josepha Attardo was buried in Olivella parish, Sciacca, 29 January 1824, aged about 50: "Josepha Attardo uxor Pauli Marchese ann: 50 circ."^[3]

Josepha Attardo, daughter of Vito Attardo and Margarita Tavormina of Quartiere San Michele, married at Sciacca (Quartiere Matrice), 21 7bre (September) 1788, by Reverendo Sacerdote Don Francesco Pione Capp.ni, Paulum Marchese, son of qm Filippo Marchese and Audenzia Indelicato. The witnesses were Giuseppe Almero and Giacomo Barlicera.^[4]

Paolo Francesco Marchese was born at Sciacca, 22 August 1766, son of Fillippo Marchese and Audenzia [Indelicato], and was baptized at San Michele parish, Sciacca, 22 August 1766; his sponsors were Martino and Vincenzia Cacioppa.^[5] Paolo Marchese died at Quartiere Santo Vito, Sciacca, at 10:00 p.m., 12 February 1833, aged 62, a contadino, born at and resided at Sciacca, sposo di Giuseppa Attardo. Pasquale Lombardo, aged 33, a mugnaio of Quartiere San Michele; and Giuseppe Liotta, aged 26, a mugnaio, both of Quartiere Santo Vito, reported his death.^[6] Paolo Marchese was buried in Olivella parish, Sciacca, 12 February 1833, aged 62 [sic]: "Paolo Marchese ann: 62 circiter."^[7]
