Biography

John was born in Charlwood Surrey in 1870. He is the son of Jonathan Attwater and Eliza Grey. He was baptised on 15 May 1870.

Using the terminology of the day, the 1901 Census refers to John as 'feeble minded' and the 1911 Census uses the term 'dumb' to describe John. He appears to live with his mother for much of his life, and there is no indication that he was ever employed. John also never married nor had children.

While John does not seem to appear in the 1939 England Register, we believe that he died in Surrey in 1946 at age 76.
