Biography

Mercy ATWATER, daughter of David, was born 29 Feb 1647/8.^[1][2] The printed town record disagrees, is a little confusing and reads "Daughter of David Atwater borne ffeb: 29th." Mercy and 1649 have been supplied in brackets. The birth is on the first page of the printed record which is listed in the order of the original records, which is relatively chronological. It is among other births of 1649/50. Her baptismal record says she was baptized 1 March 1648,^[1][2][3] which could be 1648/9, but she cannot have been baptized before she was born.

Mercy married John Austin 5 Nov 1667 in New Haven.^[1]

She was buried 14 Apr 1683, in New Haven.^[1]
