Damaris Sayre, (who died 1 Apr 1691 in New Haven) bef 1646 Suffolk Co, New York, USA
David Atwater, was the second to last name on the list of signers of the Fundamental agreement. The original signers were in 1639, but we do not know precisely when the last signers affixed their names, but probably in the next few years. He was single when he first came to New Haven, and the 1643/4 tax rate lists David Attwater 1 person, with 24 ¼ acres meadow, 141 acres of 2nd division, and a rate of 1L. 11s. 4d. He took the Oath of Fidelity in 1644 with the other New Haven inhabitants.
David and his wife had seats in the meetinghouse.
He served one term, 1654, as a townsman, was a surveyor of highways in 1681 and 1682, was a fence viewer from time to time.
He bought and sold land. When his brother Joshua went to Boston he acquired his brothers land. In 1680, he was on the 3rd division rates list as 6 persons, with an estate of L333 and was given 90 ½ acres.
