Nettie Bernice Harris

Born: March 21st, 1939 Passed in: Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada Passed on: June 21st, 2010 Nettie Bernice Harris - 71, of White Rock Road, Kings County, passed away Monday, June 21, 2010 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on March 21, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Sadie (Schofield) Atwell. Nettie loved playing bingo, knitting homemade socks, baking and watching her stories. For several years she worked at Acadia University, preparing food for students. She is survived by four sons, Leonard (Dana), Sunken Lake Road; Phillip (Judy), Kentville; Manford (Wendy), New Minas; Sanford (Brenda), Greenfield; two brothers, Ernest Atwell, Ridge Road; David Atwell, Ontario; a sister, Violet Schofield, Kentville; nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Elwin Harris; a son, Martin; a sister, Anne. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There was no visitation, by request. A graveside funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 in the Greenfield Cemetery, Kings County, Reverend Mark Shaw officiated. Following the service, interment took place for Nettie, Elwin and Martin. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses, the Valley Regional Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.
