Nathan died before March 1, 1763, when his brother-in-law Nathaniel Atwood was appointed guardian of his children[9] Langlois observed that this occurred the day following the guardianship of his brother Elkanah's children, leading to the theory that the brothers died together, possibly at sea.
Langlois discussed the probability that Mary remarried Simeon Rider, son of John Rider and Mehitable Crowell, after Nathan's death[9], and moved to the Oblong. The evidence is circumstantial: Simeon's second wife was Mary Young, and the other candidates are accounted for; she was not a widow when her husband's estate was administered; and her children with Nathan Young are found in the NY records.
Mary last appeared in the records in 1765, during the administration of Nathan Young's estate[9]. This profile shows she died some time after 1765.
