Hi Lisa, you might be aware that James Atwood-726 had a daughter Martha who married a William Atwood who, according to family legend, was her first cousin. It has been speculated that he was the son of a John Atwood. Anyway, Martha and William had a son William Lewis Atwood who was living in Johnson County, Indiana in the 1840s, so perhaps that Atwood line includes male descendants that could be DNA tested. In any case, extensive documentation for James Atwood-726 can be found in the set of images attached to his profile.

Hi Lisa, just a friendly hello and heads-up about James Atwood-726. First of all, your recent addition motivated me to add some info to James's bio, thanks! Secondly, I detached James's speculative father Gilbert and added a link to Gilbert to the text of James's bio -- that's the way to do things when we're not sure. It appears that a Jack Atwood has had a DNA test done, and the results have been applied to both James and his speculative brother John. This is an exciting clue, but it is potentially misleading; I hope we can sort that out! (Is Jack descended from James or from John?) Thanks, John

Hi!

Our vision is to build a collaborative tree with one profile per person. The farther back you go, it's likely you will find duplicate profiles to link into, so it's a good idea to do a search before you create a new profile.

Do you have Royal Ancestors? If so, they are already here! Please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their already existing profiles.

WikiTree strives to be a fun, collaborative, productive site. It's also different than what many people are used to. Please take advantage of the Help Menu in the upper right hand corner, our G2G Forum and of course, our Mentors :)

Do you have any questions I can help with?

Thank you for volunteering to help grow our World Wide Family Tree. You are now a member of the WikiTree community.

Please note we are trying to build one collaborative tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add profiles to WikiTree.

If you need any help getting started check out the Help section or head over to the G2G forum. You might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help with specific problems if you have any.

Good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree :)
