Born in Hessekeim, Wurtemburg, Germany to Johann Conrad Abele and Christine Margareth Stumpp. Frederick immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1853. He married Barbara Shively May 27, 1860 in Pennsylvania. All of their children were born in Pennsylvania: John 1861, Mary 1863, Jacob 1864, Catherine 1866, Harriett 1867, Franklin 1869, Anna 1872, William 1873. They first came to Sedgwick County, KS then Barber County, KS. Frederick was a farmer and well respected in the community.

W.C. Aubley came to Barber County from Pennsylvania in 1887 with his parents. He was eleven years old at the time. They settled on a farm west of Medicine Lodge, which is still in the family.
