Thomas, 7th and last Baronet, born December 2, 1782, at Llantrithyd, Glamorganshire, was the only son of Col.Richard Aubrey (1744-1808) and his wife Frances Digby, daughter of the Hon. Wriothesley Digby LLD and Mary Cotes.[1][2]

He succeeded his uncle as 7th baronet on March 14, 1826.[1]

Educated at Westminster School, Trinity College, Cambridge (matriculated 1801; BA 1806; MA 1809) and Lincolns Inn (admitted, 1805; called to bar, 1811).[1][3]

He married on December 9, 1813, at Middle Claydon (Bucks), to Mary (1778-1817), daughter of Thomas Wright of London and niece of Rev. Robert Wright (later Verney) of Middle Claydon but had no issue.[1][4]

High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, 1815-16.[5]

JP and DL for Buckinghamshire (Chairman of Quarter Sessions, 1831-51).[1]

In 1831 he attempted to revive the market at Brill, and also allocated land for allotments and market gardens for use by the poor.[1]

He inherited the Llantrithyd and Boarstall estates from his uncle in 1826, and leased Oving House (Bucks) from Maj. Hopkins-Northey until his death. At his death his estates passed to his niece, Elizabeth Sophia Ricketts (née Aubrey).[1]

His wife inherited the Middle Claydon estate from her half-sister, Mary, Baroness Fermanagh, in her own right.[1]

Mary died on November 27, 1817.[1]

He died on September 5, 1856 and "the baronetcy became extinct".[1] His will is available online.[6]

Research Notes

Some sources report Thomas matriculated at St Johns, Cambridge which is refuted as an error as stated in the source listed as Cambridge University Alumni.

Disposition of Estates

Note regarding the disposition of the Llantrithyd, Boarstall, Chilton and Dorton estates: As noted above, Thomas left the Llantrithyd and Boarstall estates to his niece Elizabeth Sophia Aubrey Ricketts. She had previously inherited the Dorton and Oakley estates from her cousin.
Upon her death, the estates passed to her son, Charles Aubrey Ricketts. By royal license, Charles assumed the surname of Aubrey on March 7, 1874. Upon his death, the estates passed to his third cousin once removed, Major-General Henry Fletcher (1835-1910), 4th Baronet of Clea Hall whom he had never met. He assumed the additional surname of Aubrey by royal license on September 5, 1851 to become Brigadier-General Henry (Fletcher) Aubrey-Fletcher 4th Bt (1835-1910). That surname continues today (3/22/2018) with Sir Henry Egerton Aubrey-Fletcher, 8th Baronet.
