Elizabeth "Betsy" was born around July 1813 in the Village of Kilconquhar, Kilconquhar Parish, Fife, Scotland. She is the daughter of Thomas (Auchterlonie) and Janet (Anderson), who married on the 24 August 1799 at the Parish Church, at Main Street, in the Village of Kilconquhar, north of Kilconquhar Loch, Parish of Kilconquhar, in Fife, Scotland. However, Thomas' surname is spelt as "Aughterlonie" on the Marriage Record[1].

Residence

On the night of the Census Record of 1841, we find Thomas (Lindsay) residing with his wife Elizabeth "Betsy" (Auchterlonie/Lonie) and their children James, Thomas and Robert (Lindsay) at Cottar House No. 4, near Kenly Farmhouse, south of the Village of Boarhills, in the Parish of St. Andrews and St. Leonards, Fife, Scotland[3]. In 1851, the family have moved to the Settlement of Teuchats, near the Village of Kirkton of Largo, Parish of Largo, in Fife, Scotland. Thomas and Elizabeth reside there with children James, Robert, Archibald, Alexander, Agnes Webster and Janet (Lindsay)[4].

In 1861, Thomas and Elizabeth "Betsy" live with children Janet, Peter and Christian (Lindsay) in the Hamlet of Burnside, southwest of the Village of Blackford, in the District of Blackford, Perthshire, Scotland[5]. However, by 1875, Thomas and Elizabeth "Betsy" have emigrated and have now settled down and bought some land in the Town of Colchester, Delaware County, in New York, United States. Their surname, however, is spelt incorrectly on the Record as "Lindsly"[6].

Thomas and Elizabeth are still living in the Town of Colchester, New York in 1880 with their son Alexander (Lindsay)[7]. Alexander has moved away with the Census of 1892 and only Thomas and Betsy are living in the Town of Colchester, Delaware County, New York, United States[8]. We find the couple still in the Town of Colchester, Delaware County, New York with the 1900 Census[9].

According to the Census Record of 1900, Thomas and Elizabeth "Betsy" (Lindsay) emigrated in 1870 to the Town of Colchester, Delaware County, New York, United States.

Death/Burial

Elizabeth "Betsy" (Auchterlonie) passes away on the 30 January 1901 in the Town of Rockland, in the northern part of Sullivan County, New York, United States. She was around 88 years old at the time and the probable cause of death would be Old Age and/or Natural Causes[10].
