Biography

Claude Aucoin is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 11, La Ville D'Archangel. Listed with him is Marie Joseph Saulnier, his wife; and five children: Perpetue, Anastasie, Mathurin, Marie and Pierre.^[1]

Anne Anastasie Aucoin was born in exile in the village of La Mettrie Pommerais, Plouër-sur-Rance, Bretagne, France (present-day département of Côtes-d'Armor), on 9 September 1767 and was baptized the same day.^[2] She was the daughter of Charles Aucoin and Marie Josèphe Saulnier. Her godparents were Jean Baptiste Aucoin and Marie Anne Aucoin.
