William de Audley of Blore, was the son of John de Audley of Blore, Staffordshire, and his wife Petronella (family name unknown).[1]
His father is cited in 1265 but must have died before 1279, when Petronella is cited as a widow, and William succeeded to Blore and Grendon in Staffordshire. He is mentioned in documents in 1284 and 1294.[1]
William de Audley married Constance, (family name unknown) and they had a son;
William also appears to have an illegitimate daughter;
William must have died before 1307 when his wife Constance is cited as a widow.[1]
Presumably his daughter Margaret is considered to be illegitimate because Blore and Grendon were inherited by William's brother Hugh de Audley, a clerk, when his nephew Alan died without issue in 1311. He sold them in 1314 to Joan, widow of John Le Strange, later married to Sir Henry Brailsford.[1]
The article by Josiah Wedgwood in Collections for a history of Staffordshire, Volume 9, p 260, does not mention a daughter Emma.
