Biography

Robert, son of John and Ellen Aughton, was baptized 14 Feb 1732/3 in North Meols, Lancashire.^[1]

Robert married first to Margery Rymer in 1756.^[2]

In 1761, he entered a marriage bond with Margaret Shorlicar, describing himself as a widower, and married shortly thereafter.^[3][4]

Robert Aughton of Birkdale, aged 75, died 17 Nov 1808 and was buried 19 Nov 1808 in North Meols.^[5]

The will of Robert Aughton of Birkdale, was probated later that month. It named his sons Richard Aughton, Thomas Aughton, Robert Aughton, William Shorlicar, James Aughton, daughter Meadow, wife of John Meadow, daughter Margaret Eccles, wife of Thomas Eccles, daughter Mary Johnson, daughter Ellen Johnson, and granddaughter Elizabeth Aughton.^[6]
