Biography

Elizabeth was born about 1844, Ayrshire. Parents Alexander Auld and Marion Ferguson.

1851 Address Hill Street Cunningham, Ayrshire, Scotland. Elizabeth Auld, age 7, who is attending School ( Scholar ). Her father Alexr Auld, age 35 years, Head of the household, her mother Marion Auld, is about 34 years old. Siblings in the household are David Auld age 13, who is attending School ( Scholar ), Agnes Auld age 4, Anne Auld aged 2 years and Alexr Auld, age recorded as 0 years. All household members birthplace Ayrshire.

Elizabeth's mother Marion has died between 1851 - 1855.

1861 Elizabeth age about 16 years looks to be working as a Domestic Servant in the Galbraith household in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.

1868 Elizabeth marries Hugh Gordon, the couple marriage was recorded in Kilmarnock,Ayr,Scotland.

1869 , birth of the couple 1st known child, Marion Ferguson Gordon, the birth was registered in Kilmaurs, Ayr, Scotland.

Elizabeth and Hugh move to Ireland this is confirmed with a birth in 1871 of a daughter, the birth was registered in Lucan, County Dublin, Ireland.

Note: Some confusing with regards to the name of their daughter, it looks as if the registrar may have recorded Eliza ( mothers forename ) as daughters name when possibly it should have been recorded as Jane or Jane Eliza....

1872 Another child born in Lucan, Celbridge, County Kildare, Ireland, they name their son Alexander.

1874 Riccarton Ayrshire the family are found back in Scotland, confirmed with the birth of a daughter the couple name her Mary.

Note: Son Alexander not in 1881 Census he would be about 9 years old...

1891 Elizabeth has been recorded twice on this Census day. She has been recorded with her parents in North Hamilton Street, Kilmarnock and then again with her husband Hugh and their 6 children, Marion age 21, Jane age 19, Hugh age 14, William age 12, Margaret age 9, Agnes who is 6, in Hill Street, Irvine, Ayrshire.

Note: Missing from the household is Mary she would be about 16 .... and James he would be 9 years old....

Elizabeth and Hugh had about 9/10 known children: Marion Ferguson, (Eliza, Jane ), Alexander,Mary, Hugh, William, James, Margaret, Agnes.
