Biography

Son of William Auld and Elizabeth Pye. Charles married Margaret McFadyen on June 12 1877, on Prince Edward Island. They had 5 children.

Mr. Charles Auld of Clyde River passed peacefully away on Sunday evening July 13th at the age of sixty seven years. He had not been enjoying good health for some time but his condition was not considered serious and many hoped to see him restored to health.

Mr. Auld was a hard working and prosperous farmer of Clyde River, upright and honest in all his dealings with his fellow man.

Besides a sorrowing widow he leaves to mourn their loss a family of two daughters and two sons. The daughters are Mrs. George Beer, Kingston and Mrs. Cecil Scott, of Clyde River. The sons are Bertram and Ira, of Clyde River.

Research Note

The other Charles Auld living in the same area of PEI was Charles Higgins Auld, son of Isabella Stead and James Auld. He married Margaret Ramsay, daughter of George Ramsay and Mary McCallum, from Lot 17. They had one surviving son, James Allen Ramsay Auld.

Although Charles was not in the PEI Baptismal Index as a son of William Auld and Elizabeth Pye, one of his sons, Ira was a nephew and pallbearer at the funeral of Mrs John Pethick in 1924. Guardian 9 January 1925, pg 3. Obituary for Mary Ann (Auld) Matheson said that she was survived by Mrs J. Pethick; Mrs Neil McFadyen; and Charles, William, and Samuel Auld. Guardian 15 May 1908 pg 5
