Birth

David was born 8 May 1823 in Belleville, St Clair, Illinois to parents Peter Ausmus and Rhoda (Roberts) Ausmus. It is thought that David's middle name may have been "Crockett." He was married twice.

David Ausmus was an Illinoisan.


First marriage:

David Ausmus married Mary Ann Cogburn, daughter of Zachariah Cogburn, on 29 January 1846 in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois. [1]

Mary Ann passed away in 1876 in Scott County, Arkansas.

Second marriage: He then married widow Eliza Jane (Sessions) Blackwell, daughter of James Augustus Sessions. They married in 1877 in Waldron, Scott County, Arkansas. She was the widow of Ambrose Blackwell with whom she had six children before he passed away in 1875.

  2. Eliza Lucinda Ausmus (1880-1954)
  3. Rachel Mary (Ausmus) Womack (1882-1960)

He passed away in 1904 in Boles, Scott, Arkansas.
