Research Notes

Mentioned in the will of his brother Thomas Austen dated 24 Aug 1601 as the late deceased father of Stephen Austen (nephew of said Thomas) and as cousin (nephew) Stephen Austen of Loose, made overseer in the will of Nicholas (Austen) Austin dated 20 Dec 1564. For the content of the 2 wills mentioned see the appropriate profiles linked. It is estimated that this Stephen died late 16thC, say about 1590-1600 and probably in Loose. A suitable burial, will or monumental inscription has not yet been identified.

A burial for a wife of Stephen Austen in Goudhurst 10 Apr 1571 might be his wife ^[2]
