Hannah was married first to James C. Rextrow (abt.1800-1831) in 1825 in Andover, Massachusetts. Hannah and James had three children and James died in 1831.
Hannah was married a second time to James Gilman (bef.1804-1870) in 1835 in Andover, Massachusetts. Hannah and James had six children. Three of these children died in infancy and the other three died young. Only one, Hannah F. (Gilman) Carr (1839-1866), married and had a child.
Hannah ran a boarding house in North Andover for much of her adult life. She often had her grandchildren and adult children living with her.
Hannah died February 7, 1879 in North Andover, Massachusetts of bronchitis just twenty days before her son George died of pleurisy. She is buried at Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover, Massachusetts.

Only the baptismal records link Hannah to her parents. No birth record and no parent names on her marriage records. Find a Grave links her to John Austin and Dorcas Carlton and them to their parents.

The probate record of Hannah's brother Daniel Frye Austin (who did not have surviving children) lists among his heirs-at-law the children of Hannah Austin Rextro who was a sister. (Massachusetts Probate, Middlesex County, Estate of Daniel F. Austin, 1882, Case 14642)
In 1844 Hiram Osborn Tuttle (relationship unknown) petitioned for and was awarded guardianship of two of Hannah's sons (James Rextrow's sons): James Edward Rextrow (age 16) and George W Rextrow (age 14).[1]

1850 U.S. Census Hannah was with husband James Gilman, hannah, emily, and charlotte; son George's grandparents-in-law (the Freemans) lived next door.
At the time of the 1850 U.S. Census Hannah lived next to Cato and Judith Freeman, Lydia Freeman's grandparents. Lydia [Freeman-15876] is son George Rextrow's first wife. Three of Hannah's daughters were still living: Hannah, Emily, and Charlotte.
1855 Massachusetts State census Hannah was counted with son Charles Rextrow, and daughters Hannah, Emma, Charlotte.
1860 U.S. Census Hannah was counted with son George (Rickstraw transcription), daughters Emma and Charlotte, and granddaughter Georgianna (Rickstraw). Hannah's daughter Hannah Gilman Carr lived next door with her husband.
1865Mmassachusetts State census Hannah was counted with daughter Hannah, her husband John Carr, their daughter Carrie/Clara, and granddaughter Lydia F. Rextrow (George's child).
1870 U.S. Census Hannah was counted with son George Rextrow and granddaughter Georgianna Rextrow, son-in-law John Carr, and granddaughter Carrie Carr.
There are two George Rextrows in the household for this census. Seems likely that it was an entry error.
