Samuel Austin was a descendant of Edmund Austin of Rhode Island.[1]
Samuel Austin owned property in North Kingstown near the well known landmark called "Devils' Foot". The northern corner of his land on the post road between Wickford and E. Greenwich he deeded to the Quidnesset church society and its 1st church was dedicated there Aug. 11, 1842. A new church occupies the cite today. [2]
