Walter Austin is an Anzac who served in World War One.

Biography

Walter was born in 1864, the son of Samuel Austin and Lavinia Newport.[1]

He married Mary Bayer in 1915.[2]

Walter served in the army in the First World War.[3]

He passed away in 1921[4][5] and was buried in Domain Road Cemetery, Whakatane, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.[6]

Austin-9737 and Austin-7975 appear to represent the same person because: Pretty sure these are the same people. Walter James' military records have him born in Wanganui in 1864. The birth date he gives is different but he also originally lied about his age by 11 years to be allowed to serve so he could have also changed his birth date. This newspaper article https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/WH18741105.2.8 suggests that Samuel's son was known as Walter James.
