Nathan was born in 1777 in Wilmington, NC. He was the son of William Austin and his 2nd wife Ann Jones. He married Rebecca Teague on 16 Jul 1794 in Burke, NC. They had eighteen known children (four who were stillborn and unnamed). Living in Burke County, NC, it is here he passed away in 1853. He is buried at the Antioch Cemetery.
