Mary Kate AUTRY was born^[1],^[2] 03 May 1921 in Little Coharie Township, Sampson, North Carolina, United States. She is the daughter of Nathan Autry and Jennie Godwin.

Mrs. Mary Kate Honeycutt, 89, of 803 Meadowood St. Apt 132, Greensboro, formerly of Clinton, NC. died Monday morning at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro, NC.

Mrs. Honeycutt, a native of Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Jennie Godwin Autry and Nathan Autry and was the widow of James Furman Honeycutt of Clinton. They were married for 55 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by four sistes, Elsie Crumpler, Nell Turlington, Betty Ruth Shipp and Jewell Smith and a brother, N.J. Autry. Mrs. honeycutt graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in education. For two years during World War II, she worked in Washington, DC, at Arlington Hall. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Clinton for many years, where she sang in the choir and participated in many activities and committees. Although Mrs. Honeycutt left Clinton over sixty years ago for health reasons, she always considered Clinton home and loved and missed her many friends and colleagues there. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Pope and husband Dave of Alexandria, VA; and Julia Styers and husband Van of Summerfield, NC; a son, Jim Honeycutt and wife Pam of Sneads Ferry, NC; eight grandchildren, Jenny Catlin, Carrie Reeves, Tim Pope, Shannon Schneider, Amanda Howard, Amy Parker, John Pope and Michael Honeycutt, and nine great-grandchildren.

The family received friends on Saturday, February 19, 2011 6-8pm at the Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton, NC.

The funeral services were held at 2pm, Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert redmond officiating.

Burial was made in the Clinton City Cemetery, Clinton, NC.
