Biography
Young L AUTRY was born about 1803 in Sampson, North Carolina, United States.
Young Autry and his wife Milsey, Millzy or Milza, both aged about 47, first show up by name in the 1850 Sampson, North Carolina census (House Number 18). Among their children present in the household then:[1]
New to the household in 1870 are some changes to ages the presumably are more precise, the addition of the youngest child, and that Young is apparently now widowed(?) at 68:[2]
Molcy/Moley/Molsie, 32
Eliza A Autry, 30
Miles C Autry, 28
Wiley Autry, 10 (grandson - son of Molsie[3], also per next census designation)
By the 1880 census, Young Autry is definitively listed as widowed at age 80.[4]
Molsey Autry, 41 daughter
Eliza A Autry, 38 daughter
Wiley Autry, 19 grandson
Rosa D Autry, 6 granddaughter
He passed away about 1880 and was buried Autryville, Sampson, North Carolina, United States. See also: Find A Grave: Memorial #100259413.
Research Notes
The 1840 census is problematic as naming of household members was not conducted, only enumeration. One or both of these may be a false positive match. Unless the household size or other distinctions between the two households are carefully examined and prove to be distinguishable, we may never know if either of these records belongs to this Young Autry.
