Information from "Poor Children's List" in the File's at LancasterHistory.Org. Every child was entitled to an education and if a parent could not afford it, the Commonwealth paid for it. Each teacher had to submit a list with the name of the student that could not pay for their education. Some teachers, put the child's age, some did not. Some teacher's put the name of the parent, some did not. In the best case scenario, the teacher provided the name of the student, the age and the parent. This was the case in 1825 and 1827 in Manor Township, and how I have determined the ages and names of John George Auxer's children.
