Biography

  • The following deed helps to establish George in the family of Johan Christian and Maria Barbara Wentz Auxer.
....and the said John Greider and Margaret his wife in and by their certain instrument in writing issued poll on the last recited indenture . ....bearing date the fourth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy (recorded at Lancaster in said Book R, page 498) for the consideration therein mentioned granded and confirmed the same lot or piece of ground with the appurtenances unto CONRAD OXER and to his heirs and assigns forever. And the said CONRAD OXER being so seised in fee of and in the said lot or piece of ground died intestate unmarried and without issue, whereby the same lot or piece of ground descended to and became vested in GEORGE OXER, eldest brother and heir at law of the said CONRAD OXER, deceased agreeable to the laws of the said state of Pennsylvania in such cases made and provided and whereas the said GEORGE AXER in and by his certain instrument in writing dated the twenty fifth day of Mary anno domini one thousand seven hundred and eighty (recorded at Lancaster in Book U page 500c) for the consideration therein mentioned granted and sold the said lot or piece of ground with appurtenances unto the said CHRISTOPHER AXER in his lifetime (the the name CHRISTOPHER OXER) and to his heirs and assigns forever. To ALL whom it may concern: KNOW YE, That I George Oxer of the Township of Salsbury in the County of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania yeoman for and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds two shillings and six pence, lawful money of Pennsylvania to me in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof, by Christopher Oxer of the Borough of Lancaster, the receipt and payment where of in hereby acknowledged, Have granted bargained and sold and by those presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Christopher Oxer and to his heirs and assigns
A CERTAIN lot or piece of ground situate lying and being in the Borough of Lancaster aforesaid,
IT BEING the same lot or piece of ground which John Grier and Margaret his wife by their assignment granted and confirmed unto Conrad Oxer his heirs and assigns.
TOGETHER WITH all and singular the houses building improvements ways waters lights easements heriditements and appurtenances whatsoever there unto belonging or in anywise appertaining, and the reversions and remaindeers rents issues and profits thereof, and all the estate, right title & interesst of him the said George Oxer of or in the same and every part thereof.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD unto the said Christopher Oxer his heirs and assigns to the only proper use benifit (sic) and behoof of him the said Christopher Oxer his heirs and assigns forever. SUBJECT NEVERTHELESS to the quitrents now due and hereafter to become due for the same to the chief lord or lords of the ffee (sic) thereof, and the said George Oxer doth covenant for himself and his heirs, the said lot of ground with the appurtenances unto the said Christopher Oxer his heirs and assigns, against him and his heirs, and against the heirs of Conrad Oxer shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF the samd parties have hereunto set their hands and seals interchanageably. Dated the twenty fifth day of March Anno Domini 1780.

LANCASTER COUNTY SS: Be it remembered that on the day of the date of the withing written Indenture personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Court of Common Please for the County aforesaid the within named George Oxer, and acknowledged the within Indenture to be his act and deed & desired that as such the same should be recorded. INTESTIMONY WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and seal the same day and year.
